Challenge from Euvah

Ok, I tried this a bit ago and it locked up my computer. Here we go again, this is my desktop. You cannot see the taskbar because it autohides and I try to keep the desktop cleaned of icons for the most part. But that is just me. I am weird that way.

Ice Storm 2009

This has been an interesting couple of days. Not nearly as bad as the storm in 2007, but definitely interesting. Ok, so maybe I should actually say BORING. Because I am going out of my everloving mind in the house. I have all of my homework finished for this week and am working on next weeks homeowrk. That is just crazy! Anyway, this is a picture of the Bradford Pear in my front yard.
These are the oak trees in Mrs. Perry's yard across the street to the south I am amazed all of the limbs did not fall out of them. They are soooo old and it seems they are constantly breaking.

This is our little pine tree. Poor thing. Euvah thinks I should hang a Christmas ornament on it and call it our Charlie Brown tree. I am thinking she may be right. We planted it at the same time as the BRadford Pear and it is still little.

The front porch looking north. This is ICE people, NOT snow.

The front porch looking south. And the sad thing is it still looks this way after one day above freezing. Sixth street is the main street downtown and the numbskulls in Okmulgee have not even sanded it. But they sanded Oklahoma Street which is off thre main artery. Go figure.

25 Random Things...

...Ok, on Facebook someone tagged me to discuss 25 Random Things. I guess I will try to do it here. No promises though!

1. I am a disabled veteran. I served in the Air Force and the Army Reserve. While in the AF I fell off the wing of a plane (Yes, it was on the ground) and took out my back and then, while on AGR (Active Guard and Reserve), I took out my left knee while doing calisthenics. Jumping Jacks to be precise.

2. I am a full time student at University of Tulsa. I am going for my Bachelors in English and no, I am not going to be a teacher, lol, I plan on being a book editor.

3. I graduated with a 4.0 from OSU-Okmulgee in August of 2007.

4. I am a scrapbooker. I love to scrap but so seldom have the time that maybe I should not call myself one! LOL

5. I love living in Okmulgee, OK. It is just my pace. Slow and easy does it. I cannot tell you how comfortable it is here.

6. I have two dogs, a chihuahua and a Jack Russell Terrier. I love those dogs even though Trixie, the chi, ate my iPod headphones this a.m.

7. I liked The Great Gatsby even though it was sad. I just had to read it for one of my three, yep, three, English classes.

8. I do not want this country to become a socialist nation.

9. I love God. And I have put all of my faith in Him. I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will take care of us.

10. I spend most of my free time at church. I love my church family. I know that it is a house of God and when the body is there, you can feel the spirit move and you can feel the safety.

11. I love my siblings. We are very close and that comforts me. I know they love me, they know I love them. But you know what? Everytime we talk, even if it is yelling across the street to my brother, we say it. You just cannot say it enough. I love you.

12. I love my kids. I made a LOT of huge mistakes with them, but I love them with all my heart and soul.
13. I love Dad. He is driving me nutso talking again, but I do love him and the alternative is not acceptable.
14. I am not going to make it to 25. There is no way. I am running out of random things. LOL
15. I am schyzo-affective bi-polar. It does not define me. It is just a part of who I am. What makes me, me.
16. I have grown tremendously in the last 6 years. I now know more about myself than I ever have. I still have a lot of growing to do, but I know I can do it now.
17. I have a ton of homework to do and I am doing this instead.
18. I think my new to me camera is awesome. I wish I had more time to take pictures so I could play with it more.
19. Maybe I will make it to 25. Who knows?
20. I love to watch Survivor even when I don't get to see it until it is over, like as in the whole season is over. LOL
21. I like CSI and CSI:Miami even though I never get to watch them anymore.
22. I am 5'11" and I like being tall.
23. Dad is STILL talking. And he is eating. NOT a good combination.
24. I like to spoil people I love.
25. I am grateful I am finished with this list. LOL

My New Shoes...

...I just fell in love with these shoes the first time I saw them. They are the Skechers Shindigs and they are sooo cute and comfy!

I admit it, I am a dweeb to be so happy with such a small thing. They are not for hiking across campus, but are otherwise just super comfy! I hiked across campus twice yesterday in them and they kept trying to come off my feet so it made the trek somewhat difficult.
I guess I will wear them for other things but I think they may just be worth the trouble even on those days in which I have to trek across campus.

Homework...

...all the tons of it I have and I am very glad to say that I am allllmost finished with it for this week. I have another 48 pages to read and have to listen to The Great Gatsby and I am finished. Yay, me!

I have a four day weekend due to MLK day and I am alllmost finished yay!

Ok, off to bed!

Yay!

I know that most will not understand this, but I am so pumped! Mom and Dad, with a TON of help from Steve, Euvah, Shari and John, got a self-help home through USDA. Well, that meant that EVERY year, we had to re-qualify for the subsidy by filling out reams of paperwork. Not a problem, just time-consuming.

Well, we filled out the reams of paperwork this year and got a phone call today from USDA. My heart sank when they said that we no longer qualified for the subsidy, I just KNEW the payment was going to shoot sky high! Guess what?? It WENT DOWN!! I was blown away! I am sooo happy and the BEST part is that we no longer have to fill out paperwork every year. Just make our payment and we are good to go.

It did not go down by a lot, but that is fine. The Lord is so good to us!

Back to the Grind! They gave me money and let me keep it.

Well, it is the 12th and that means a return to school for me. It seemed as though the break was the blink of an eye, though I had most of a month out. I have soo much more to do at home, it is unreal. I did not get my desk in my office cleaned off which sucks. Oh well, I will get it sooner or later. Probably later since I have TWENTY-SIX books JUST for this semester. NINE in ONE class. Yeah, that is what happens when you are an English Major. Oh well, c'est la vie. I will live.

I bought an 8 G Flash drive and recieved a free audio book from Audible.com. I d/l'd For Whom the Bell Tolls as it is one of the 26 books I have to read. I figure I can listen in my car on the way to and from school and maybe knock it out painlessly. I have to read Faulkner, Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. This should be an interesting semester. I also have Early Modern Sexuality which I am not looking forward to, and one the titles in THAT class is Making Sex. Again, it should be interesting.

I have 20 minutes before class starts, so I guess I should get around and be prepared. Actually, I think I AM prepared, I have paper and pencil out and ready.

They totalled my car. :-( They gave me money and let me keep it. I JUST paid the darn thing off and do NOT want a car payment at the moment so I was glad they let me keep it. I am having the mechanical fixed on it on Thursday. $800 worth but it should be in tip-top shape. I am grateful the Lord is taking care of me.

Ok, well, class is filling up so let me head out. Have a great day!

More of my Church Family...

This is Carole. She is such a sweetie and her son goes to the church as well with his new wife and kids. I think this is a great pic of Carole. She is so full of life and has a great personality. This is Margaret Maghe, she used to be the Principal of the school when we had one and her whole life is tied up in the church. She is a wonderful woman who just happens to also have been my brother Danny's 2nd grade teacher. I take her home often and pick her up frequently now that she is not driving.
This is Norma, she has an infectious laugh and just started scrapping. So far I have gotten I think 5 ladies addicted and am working on more!

This is Evelyn. She has had a rough couple of years. Her grandaughter died a year or so ago of diabetes and just a couple of months ago, the mother of that grandaughter was killed by a drunk driver along with her son-in-law. I posted about the accident when it happened. Viola Tolbert and her son-in-law, Cody Spears were killed and the two children that Viola had custody of, were injured. Evelyn is so strong but I just don't know how she does it.

And this is "Sissy." As you can see she is a smiler and a very happy young lady. She is so placid when you first meet her and such a firey spirit when you get to know her.

A Little Thing that Makes Me Happy...

Ok, so I am odd and I know it. When I was down at Euvah's, she had been given the coolest snowman snow globe. A fan blows the snow around and it has a light in it that changes color. I absolutely fell in love and HAD to have one. Steve had bought it for Euvah and when he went back to the store he bought it from, they were all gone. :-( I was soooo sad.

Well, Wednesday, Shela and I went to Tulsa to the mall among other places and when I walked in, I saw a Hallmark. I immediately thought of that little snow globe and raced in to see if they had one. THEY DID.
Isn't he beautiful? I love him. I love to turn all the lights out and just watch him flow. I cannot even imagine why he makes me so happy, but he does. So, what little thing makes you happy?

So, I talked to Bobby...

...and we are friends and that is all. And that is super with me. I like him as a friend, but I am just not ready for anything more with ANYONE and he has a lot he needs to figure out in his life.

I feel much better and it is nice having a friend.

My Day Started with a Bang...

....Literally! I got backed into. I am fine, a bit achy and sore, but all is well. $1600 worth of damage to my car. :-( Anyway, here are pics. I will pull the car out and get better ones soon.
